Three Wildcat Women’s Rugby Student-Athletes Named To NSCRO All-American Team

WAYNE – A trio of Wayne State College women’s club rugby members are adding to their personal accolades with All-American status.

According to a release from the National Small College Rugby Organization, a list of 25 student-athletes were recognized as NSCRO Women’s All-Americans for the 2019-20 season.

The selection committee worked with coaches around the country to identify the exceptional women who make up this annual NSCRO Women’s All-Americans list. This year’s list is comprised of one freshman, three sophomores, eight juniors, twelve seniors and one graduate student.

For Wayne State College they include Anna Fleecs; Brook Hoesing and Isabelle Robinson who were honored as All-Americans.

The Wildcat women were on pace for another historic 7s season but it was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Wayne State women’s club rugby program went 10-0 during the months of February and March of 2020 as the group was fresh off wining the NSCRO 15s National Championship in December of 2019 from Life University in Marietta, Georgia.

WSC competed against high-level teams in the Iowa City Tournament and Oklahoma University Invite in Norman. The team was slated for a big weekend during the Notre Dame Tournament matching up against several Big 10 teams when the season abruptly ended.

Each player will be sent an NSCRO All-American t-shirt and gold medal in recognition of this honor.
