2020 NSAA State Cross Country Results

KEARNEY – Individuals and teams who qualified for the 2020 NSAA State Cross Country Championships were in action throughout Friday afternoon.

From the Kearney Country Club, Class A, B, C and D were all represented during their respective races.

Wayne High sent a few runners over to Kearney as sophomore Laura Hasemann placed 27th (21:05.3) while freshman Frantzdie Barner finished 76th in a time of 22:43. In the boys division, freshman Jesus Zavala finished 16th (17:20).

The Class C girls team champion was Boone Central with 74 points as the boys team champion went to Milford with 87 points.

Top finishers were junior Alexus Sindelar of Pierce (19:18.1) in the girls division and sophomore Carson Noecker of Hartington (15:22) in the boys division.

Pierce girls placed sixth as a team with 117 points (Arnold 30th – 21:16; Simmons 33rd – 21:20; Gilmore 94th – 23:57 and Vogt 112th – 27:55).

Battle Creek’s Afftynn Stusse finished 58th (21:57).

 

Pierce boys finished ninth with 125 points (Sindelar runner-up – 15:53; Geneski 14th – 17:12; Efta 62th – 18:24; Koch 99th – 19:11; Brock Bolling 105th – 19:17 and Blake Bolling 110th – 19:33).

Battle Creek’s Hunter Oestreich finished 55th – 18:12.

 

Opening the afternoon were the Class D girls led by McCool Junction in the team race edging Ainsworth 41-42 while freshman Jordyn Arens of Crofton won the 5K in a time of 19:06.

Bloomfield-Wausa placed third (47); Norfolk Catholic took eighth (73); Crofton finished 10th (80) and Wisner-Pilger came in 13th (108).

Bloomfield-Wausa (Christina Martinson ninth – 20:27; Nelson 20th – 21:02; Carrylee Martinson 33rd – 21:39; McFarland 43rd – 21:54 and Ziegler 47th – 22:01).

Norfolk Catholic (Faltys 27th – 21:28.21; Kann 28th – 21:28.92; Fischer 44th – 21:54 and Aschoff 86th – 23:41).

Crofton: (Altwine 60th – 22:45; Wortmann 63rd – 22:51; Scheiffer 72nd – 23:17 and Steffen 97th – 24:18).

Wisner-Pilger (Rasmussen 18th – 20:57; Svoboda 75th – 23:20; Hassler 76th – 23:21; Theroes 106th – 25:12 and Von Seggern 112th – 26:07).

Pender’s Alexis Bodlak finished 52nd – 22:22 while Plainview’s Abigail White placed 64th – 22:57.

 

Class D Boys were led by David City Aquinas Catholic with 14 points while senior Payton Davis of Aquinas Catholic won the race in a time of 16:41.

Norfolk Catholic finished runner-up (19); BRLD finished 10th (95); Crofton placed 14th (123) and Osmond took 15th (136).

Norfolk Catholic (Hammond seventh – 17:21; Brunsing ninth – 17:28; Liess 15th – 17:48; Kalous 32nd – 18:20 and Ash 37th – 18:25).

BRLD (Schlichting 21st – 17:58; Zachary Hegge 54th – 18:45; Henschen 89th – 19:28; Brayden Hegge 101st – 20:00 and Hardin 110th – 20:19).

Crofton (Connor Arens 49th – 18:35; Guenther 79th – 19:20; Zuhlke 88th – 19:25; Phillips 118th – 20:29 and Zachary Arens 128th – 21:03).

Osmond (Schultze 28th – 18:17; Chishiba 83rd – 19:21; Johnson 120th – 20:30; Aschoff 121st – 20:33 and Polt 123rd – 20:38).

Stanton teammates Abraham Larson (17:10) and Kolter Van Pelt (17:11) took third and fourth place respectively. Bloomfield/Wausa’s Addison Smith finished 13th – 17:31; Wisner-Pilger’s Payton Biermann took 42nd – 18:30; Ponca’s Brody Taylor placed 60th – 18:49 while Plainview results came from Jordan Mosel (55th – 18:47) and Kyler Mosel (63rd – 18:58).

 

Class B girls team champion was Seward who edged Elkhorn 55-57 with sophomore Madison Sieler of Gering winning the race (18:55).

 

Class B boys top team was Omaha Skutt with 27 points while Isaac Richards (16:22) and Ryan Zavadil (16:38) both finished first and second for Skutt.
