HASTINGS — Duncan Field of Hastings, Nebraska is the host of the 2019 American Legion Mid-South Regional Baseball Tournament this year. Participating teams included State Champions or runners-up from six midwest and southern states along with host team Hastings Five Points Bank Post 11. First round action of the tournament began on Monday with Oklahoma (Coweta) Post 226 defeating Texas (Texarkana) Post 25 by a 2-0 score. Fremont, NE Post 20 won over Missouri (Sedalia) Post 642 by a score of 8-2 and Missouri (Festus) Post 253 won over Kansas (Emporia) Post 5, 5-3. Host team Hastings, NE lost to Arkansas (Bryant) Post 298, 3-2. Action around the diamond continued Thursday with Fremont, NE winning over Oklahoma 7-4 and Missouri (Festus) beating Arkansas 2-1. Texas also won over Missouri (Sedalia) 5-4 and Hastings defeated Kansas 7-6. Friday’s matchups are set to start with host Hastings squaring off with Oklahoma followed by Texas vs. Arkansas, both of which are elimination games while Fremont, NE will battle Festus, MO in the winner’s bracket game at 7 p.m. this evening.
