Junior Legion Semis Go 2-0 Each, Ralph Bishop League Championship Sunday Set

BATTLE CREEK – The 2019 Ralph Bishop League took part in their semi-final round for both the Junior and Senior legion divisions Saturday.

Starting in the afternoon, #4 Wayne Post 43 took on the top seeded Columbus Lakeview Juniors.

It was a pitching duel with both throwing over 100 on the game and going the distance allowing three hits apiece. Run production came in the sixth for Wayne with two and that was enough to win. Post 43 improves to 19-4 on the season avenging their 5-4 road loss at Lakeview earlier in the season.

Brock Hopkins doubled and drove in the two runs while Gunnar Jorgensen doubled and scored for Wayne. Toby Braun singled as Jacob Kneifl also scored.

Jacob Kneifl picked up the shutout win in seven innings (108 pitches) allowing three hits while striking out eight batters and walking two.

The other Junior semi-final went to #6 Arlington over #10 Battle Creek (2-0). Wayne will now face Arlington in the Juniors RBL championship game at 5 p.m. Sunday evening from Eaton Field in Wakefield. Columbus Lakeview and Battle Creek will open the day at noon during the consolation round.

Senior legion results went to #4 West Point edging #1 Pender (6-5) while #3 Arlington won in extras (eight innings) over #2 Wakefield/Wayne Post 81 (5-2). Pender and Wakefield/Wayne Post 81 will face off in the consolation round at 2:30 p.m. with the RBL Senior Legion championship match featuring West Point and Arlington at 7:30 p.m.
