COLUMBUS – After splitting a road triangular Thursday night, the Wayne High wrestling team packed up and headed out for their first invite of the season.
From Columbus Lakeview high school Friday, the Vikings hosted 10 other varsity teams during the Columbus Lakeview Invite.
Team standings, saw the host Vikings tally 265 points to be crowned champions, followed by David City with 223 points in second and third place team of Raymond Central scoring 122.5 points.
Columbus Scotus finished fourth (106.5), Wayne High came in fifth (100.5), East Butler (sixth – 82), Twin River (seventh – 78), North Bend Central (eighth – 73), Cross County/Osceola (ninth – 71), Shelby-Rising City (10th – 31) and Fullerton (11th – 30).
Blue Devils receiving medals included Juan Vergara (138) and Mike Leatherdale (285) for winning their weight classes, Cameron Muhs (132) finishing runner-up as Reece Jaqua (126) and Reid Korth (170) both tallied fourth place medals.
The Wayne High wrestlers will next take on Norfolk Catholic for a dual on Thursday, December 6 at 7 p.m.
