DENVER, CO – A top 25 weekend is being put on display for the Wayne State College volleyball team.
After sweeping #5 Lewis, #17 WSC closed out Friday afternoon with a win in straight sets over #9 Western Washington (25-22, 25-17, 25-22).
The ‘Cats are now 5-0 on the season and 15-0 in sets played following back-to-back wins at the Regis University Fieldhouse in Denver, Colorado.
Maggie Brahmer (two blocks) and Jazlin De Haan (one dig) both accounted for 11 kills, followed by Taya Beller with eight kills, three blocks and one dig as Kelsie Cada with seven kills, two blocks and led the team in digs with 13. De Haan also had three blocks (one solo)
Rachel Walker posted a team-high 31 set assists to go along with six digs and a kill. Elly Larson finished with a kill and block. Alaina Wolff recorded 11 digs as Jordan McCormick followed with 10 digs. Jessie Brandl also had six digs and Ally Beresford totaled one dig.
Wolff, Cada, Beller and Beresford all had a service ace.
WSC outhit Western Washtington, .262 to .135.
Wayne State College will next play in the Gold Division and face #2 Angelo State of Texas Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Central Time.
