BISMARCK, ND – Wayne State closed out their northern-most trip of the season with a road contest at University of Mary after sweeping Minot State the night before.
From Bismarck, North Dakota, the Marauders hosted #13 Wayne State Saturday afternoon.
WSC swept University of Mary (25-20, 25-18, 25-10) to now improve to 22-5 (13-5 NSIC) as Umary fell to 1-26 (0-18 NSIC). The ‘Cats have now won four straight by sweeping their opponents.
Three Wildcats finished with double figures led by Tarrin Beller posting 15 kills and eight blocks (one solo) followed by Alyssa Ballenger and Kelsie Cada (six digs) with 10 kills each. Haley Kauth recorded a team-high 17 digs while Rachel Walker added 38 set assists, seven digs and four service aces. Other WSC aces came from Cada with two and Hope Carter (one).
Wayne State outhit Umary, .419 to .170 while the ‘Cats also recorded more service aces (7-3) and total blocks (12-8) than the Marauders.
#13 Wayne State College will next visit #6 Concordia-St. Paul in a non-conference outing on Tuesday, November 12 at 6 p.m. WSC will close out their regular season from Rice Auditorium in Wayne against MSU Moorhead at 6 p.m. Friday, November 15 and #7 Northern State Saturday at 4 p.m.
