WAYNE – A pair of  Gill Hauling employees were awarded for their outstanding work in reducing, reusing and recycling with the community of Wayne.

Earth Day is Monday, April 22 and the Wayne Green Team has been celebrating their 10-year anniversary.

On Monday, the Wayne Green Team presented Don and Anita Luschen with its Zero Hero award.

According to a release from the Green Team, the Luschens help manage the collection of recyclables at the Wayne Transfer Station and provide support to the Wayne Boy Scouts’ paper recycling program. They have also assisted the Wayne Green Team with two Household Hazardous Waste events, a sixth grade field trip to the transfer station and other efforts to encourage waste reduction and recycling in Wayne.

In their personal lives, they are avid recyclers who sort and recycle as much as possible. The Wayne Green Team thanks Don and Anita Luschen for their outstanding work to reduce, reuse and recycle in Wayne.

Founded in 2009, the Wayne Green Team is a group of community volunteers, city personnel and Wayne State College partners focused on minimizing waste and increasing sustainable behavior. Find more information about the Wayne Green Team on Facebook and at www.cityofwayne.org/greenteam.
