York Voters Recall Mayor

YORK – Voters in York have recalled their mayor during a special recall election held on Tuesday.

The unofficial results were announced around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, and the count was 1,358 YES, to 915 NO, to recall Mayor Orval Stahr.

The ballot language for the recall read “Shall Orval Stahr be removed from the Office of Mayor of the City of York Nebraska, Yes or No”.

All ballots had to be mailed or dropped off to the election commission today.

The election came after York city councilwoman Diane Wolfe called for Stahr’s recall in September of last year.

In late 2018, she gathered the 1,150 signatures required to hold the recall election.
