WSC Student Ensembles To Provide Evening Entertainment This Week

WAYNE – Join Wayne State College student ensembles as they take to the stage on Ramsey Theatre with back-to-back evening concerts.

The Brass and Percussion Ensembles will perform on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. while the members with the Jazz Ensembles will follow on Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

According to a press release from WSC, prepare for a creative and funky performance sprinkled with a bit of ragtime for the percussion portion of the April 25 concert. Recognizable repertoire includes a notable Dixieland tune, The Entertainer by Scott Joplin and a rocking rendition of Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads and Bob Daisley.

Dr. Josh Calkin, Low Brass Instructor, directs the Brass Knuckles Quintet and the Tuba-Euphonium Quartet. Dr. David Bohnert, Director of Bands, directs the Trumpet Ensemble. The Percussion Ensemble is directed by Percussion Instructor Brad Weber. Dr. Calkin also directs the Jazz Ensemble.
