WSC Jazz Band Concert Scheduled For Monday

WAYNE – Join the Wildcat Big Band for an early December Jazz Ensemble on the campus of Wayne State College.

According to a release from the college, colorful, bluesy tones will energize the Wayne State College Jazz Band Concert on Monday, December 3.

From Ramsey Theatre, located in the Peterson Fine Arts Building, the Wildcat Big Band presents new takes on jazz standards starting at 7:30 p.m.

Performances will be “Caravan”, “Night in Tunisia”, “Tuxedo Junction” and Chuck Mangione’s signature tune, “Feels So Good”.

All performances are free and open to the public.

Also, Dr. Josh Calkin will conduct the Symphonic Band during the Student Conductors Concert on Tuesday, December 4.

Back at Ramsey Theatre, six Wayne State College students will debut their conducting skills starting at 7:30 p.m.

The performance features contemporary works for concert band as well as a J.S. Bach Prelude and John Philip Sousa March.

Student conductors include Kathryn Aschoff of David City; Joshua Fremstad of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Taylor Kramer of North Platte; Micah Schut of Scribner; Bethany Spencer of Wayne and Vanessa VonSeggern of Pender.
