WSC Giving Day Is April 22, Donate Now To Benefit All Scholarships

WAYNE – Giving Day 2022 for Wayne State College will be on Friday, April 22 with a goal of $75,000 to be raised in support of scholarships.

From general academics for the College of Arts and Humanities; College of Business and Technology; College of Education and Behavioral Sciences and College of Science, Health and Criminal Justice to general athletics for each of the varsity athletic teams every dollar of proceeds goes directory towards scholarships.

The Second annual WSC Giving Day is a scholarship giving campaign which aims to inspire all of Wildcat nation being students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff to come together, show pride and support their alma mater.

Assistant Athletic Director/Athletic Development, Megan Finn said whatever you find your passion in and whatever you would like to give to, there’s an option going directly to Wayne State College students.

“We have all of our varsity sports, they have their own team on our Giving Day website,” said Finn. “Along with general athletic scholarships and then also the four schools and then you can also give to general academic scholarships.”

This year’s goal is to raise $75,000 as the first 200 donors with gifts of $100 or more will receive a pair of exclusive WSC paw socks.

During the first year of the WSC Giving Day, a goal of $30,000 was surpassed with $56,000 being raised in 2021.

“So, really excited about our results,” Finn added. “Obviously, our donors and supporters, thank you for last year and what we’ve done. Really excited for some activities and some things we’re doing this year for Giving Day.”

By raising critical scholarship funding, WSC can ensure to continue to offer a quality education that is affordable, accessible and give students a college experience that truly changes their lives.

Wayne State College students will be out in Wayne and surrounding communities giving back the week of WSC Giving Day on April 22.

Amber Sperry, Director of Alumni Relations said, “what makes WSC Giving Day so special is that 100% of all the proceeds goes directly to scholarships. If you have ever received a scholarship, you know how impactful that can be. It not only helps the financial burden, but it also provides encouragement and confidence in that student so they can keep working hard and complete their education.”

Sperry added: “Another reason why WSC Giving Day is so special is that there are matching gift opportunities, so your gift stretches even further than any other day of the year. Any gifts, small or large, really add up and make a difference! We really appreciate the generosity and support for Wayne State College and our incredible students.”
