NEBRASKA — Frigid temperatures and accumulating snow are coming to eastern and central Nebraska.
The National Weather Service issued Winter Weather Advisories for all of Nebraska except for the panhandle and the extreme southwest part of the state. The advisories begin at 6 AM Friday and last through 6 AM Saturday.
The average snow predictions for the affected area is 2 to 4 inches… with northeast Nebraska expecting 4 to 6 inches.
Meteorologists say freezing wind chills will accompany the storm. Wind chills are expected to dip below zero Saturday night and reach as low as negative 15 degrees in north central Nebraska.
Officials encourage people to dress in layers, stay dry and avoid going outside when wind chills plummet.
Many cities are declaring snow emergencies because of the forecasted winter weather. Norfolk, Crete and Papillion are among those issuing emergencies.
Most cities include parking bans with their snow emergency plans. In Norfolk, parking is allowed only on the even side of residential streets. No parking is allowed on cul-de-sacs and emergency snow routes.
