Winside Auxiliary In Search Of Volunteers To Work On ‘Thinking of You’ Cards, Business Meeting Slated For August 8

WINSIDE – With the business meeting scheduled to start later in the morning, Roy Reed Unit 252, American Legion Auxiliary will come together earlier in the day this weekend to create “Thinking of You” cards.

According to a release from the Auxiliary in Winside, the cards will be for residents at the Norfolk Veterans Home. Volunteers are needed to get nearly 160 cards made and ready to deliver starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 8.

The business meeting will then begin at 10:15 a.m. where installation of officers will take place. Those being installed include President Laura Novak, Vice President Janice Mundil, Secretary Makenzi Edwards, Treasurer Kristi Edwards and Chaplain Rose Ann Janke.

The Legion’s 100th birthday is on Thursday August 20 and Roy Reed 252, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion (SONs) are planning a public open house on Sunday, August 23. From 2 until 4 p.m. the event will take place at the Winside Legion Hall where there’ll be birthday cake and homemade ice cream. Members of the Sons of the American Legion will be providing the homemade ice cream.

Membership dues for 2021 continue to be collected. Fifty percent of the dues have been collected as the group will look for the other half to wrap up this campaign by September 1.
