PONCA – As mother nature brings more snow to Nebraska Ponca State Park had a Snowman Building contest come to a close.
From November 2017 – March 2018 Ponca State Park guests saw several perfect days to create their snowman masterpiece.
Stated in a release from Ponca State Park Friday afternoon, there were traditional snowmen embellished with created flair and snow animals. It was like a scavenger hunt with snow creations placed throughout the park.
Snowmen were found along the river, near the aquatic center, in the playground, at the sledding hill, by the mini lodges and by the pond.
Judging took place for the Snowman Building Contest towards the end of winter and early spring.
Third place was awarded to MaryBeth Schuetze and her Sewing Club from West Point. Their creation was called “Frankie”.
Runner-up went to Julien Buckles from Newcastle, titled “Just Chilling”.
The Snowman Building contest champion and grand prize recipient of a free one night stay in a Ponca State Park mini lodge went to Brandon Bernardy and Jarrett Buckles from Wallingford, Iowa. Their snowman was called “Frogger”.
