Wind Farm Project Updates Provided

WAYNE – With no action items on the regular scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners agenda Tuesday morning, the group was given project updates from two wind companies.

From the Wayne County Courthouse courtroom, highway superintendent Mark Casey provided the wind farm project updates.

Wayne county has been reviewing the road cuts with the Plum Creek Project through Lincoln Clean Energy and some corrections still need to be made. A road cut on 563rd  rd was not provided with any drainage as there still needs to be a little bit of a crown on the road. A few other places also had access material still on the road causing a safety situation. The material needed to be moved back a little further.

Crews were scheduled to make repairs Tuesday as Casey will be reviewing those corrections on Thursday, February 20.

Casey has also started making edits for a “Road Use Agreement” for the Haystack project through Tradewind Energy. Tradewind was requesting the agreement to be complete by April 1 but Casey doesn’t think that will be happening with the information the county has.

Tradewind Energy has provided the primary and alternate access roads but the map doesn’t show which locations are getting wind turbines.

Wayne county assessor Dawn Duffy and treasurer Tammy Paustian both attended the Wayne County Board of Equalization meeting earlier Tuesday morning.

After no one in the audience spoke about the public hearing on the “Form 451 Exemption Applications”, Duffy stated there were no changes as the properties remained the same. The form is the actual application for exemption that properties such as churches have to apply for every fourth year.

Paustian then stated Providence Medical Center was adding to their fleet and the American National Red Cross was licensing a trailer that Wayne county emergency manager Nic Kemnitz will be using. The trailer was previously licensed in another state. Action was approved on the motor vehicle tax exempt applications by the board.

The next regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting will be on Tuesday, March 3 at 9 a.m.
