Wind Farm Owner Donates to Dixon County Fire Crew

ALLEN – The owners of a wind farm in northeast Nebraska are helping put another rescue vehicle on the roads in Dixon County.

Representatives from Enel Green Power presented the Allen-Waterbury Fire District with a check for $60,000 on Thursday. Company officials say that money will toward the purchase of a new primary rescue unit for the district.

Enel is the owner of the Rattlesnake Creek wind project in Dixon County.

Officials with the Allen-Waterbury District say they only have two ambulances currently, one of which is from 1988. They say the donation will help them upgrade to some state-of-the-art equipment.

“Gratitude in words cannot describe how thankful we are as a department for this contribution towards the purchase of an ambulance,” said Rodney Strivens, Allen Fire Chief. “Our all-volunteer team is committed to serving our community as best as possible, and a much needed upgrade to our fleet will help us do that. This donation supports not only the Allen-Waterbury Fire Department, but our community as a whole.”
