WHS Vocal Music Department Receives Top Honors

WAYNE – Earlier this month the Wayne High vocal music department had several individuals earn outstanding performances.

According to a release from Wayne Community Schools, the NSAA District III Music Contest was held on Friday, April 23.

Wayne High was the only school to bring four large vocal ensembles and each one received superior ratings from all judges.

Superior ratings were also given to the following solos and ensembles: Dylan Anderson – solo, Andi Belt – solo, Carter Hasemann – solo, Ruben Vega – Solo, Ethan Wibben – Solo, Brooklyn Bierbower – solo, Christopher Woerdemann – solo, Jacob Kneifl, Dylan Anderson, Treyton Blecke and Christopher Woerdemann – Quartet as well as the mixed ensemble of Dylan Anderson, Andi Belt, Natalie Bentjen, Brooklyn Bierbower, Treyton Blecke, Anthony Blickenstaff, Maiah Davis, Alexandra Harrell, Jacob Kneifl, Raschell Ping, Matthew Prochaska, Sydney Redden, Catherine Rutenbeck, Ruben Vega, Leanne Westphal, Ethan Wibben and Christopher Woerdemann.

Vocal music instructor, Mrs. Tracy Anderson said, “all in all a fantastic day considering the way school started and the rough Oct./Nov. that followed. Props to the kids for sticking with the plan and bringing their best on Friday (April 23). Thank you to everyone for your support and flexibility that allowed us to represent Blue Devil Pride!”

Congratulations also to Leanne Westphal and Alexandra Harrell – duet and Maiah Davis – solo on their Excellent ratings.

Wayne vocal students received two Outstanding Performance Awards with the Mixed Ensemble and Quartet along with a pair of honorable mentions being Brooklyn Bierbower – solo and Christopher Woerdemann – solo.
