WHS Mock Trial Teams Advance To Regional Rounds Following 2-0 Start

WAYNE – A trio of Wayne High mock trial teams were in action this past weekend.

According to a release from head coach of the Blue Devil mock trial program, Josh Johnson, each team presented as the plaintiff and defense of several cases at the Dakota City Courthouse on November 4.

This marked the initial rounds of the Region 6 competition.

Following a lengthy day of competition, all three teams went 2-0.

Team #2 (l to r): Liberty Titiml, Kate Hill, Amelia Legler, Judith Echeveste-Morales, Gavin Redden, Alondra Vega, Nyamalo Kantai, Laura Hasemann and Ava Elliott.

Wayne team #2 started their day as the defense and defeated Lutheran High Northeast #3 followed by a victory against Aspire from Fremont while presenting the Plaintiff.

Wayne team #1 found themselves in battles all day with very good South Sioux City teams. They started out as the Plaintiff against SSC #1 and won narrowly before another close win against another good team in SSC #2 while presenting the defense.

Team #3 (l to r): Gavin Anderson, Regan Fernau, Adrienne Anderson, Josie Ley, Sienna Klinetobe, Kenna Blecke, Lily Hurner, Jacen Hasemann and Aidan Bohnert.

Wayne #3 began their day as the defense and defeated Aspire from Fremont while also picking up a win against Lutheran High Northeast #3 while presenting the plaintiff.

All three teams now move onto the advanced regional rounds later this week with a chance to make it to the State Mock Trial competition in December.
