West Point-Beemer School Investigating Morning Break-In

WEST POINT, NE — Authorities are investigating a morning break-in at West Point-Beemer Jr./Sr. High School.

Superintendent Bill McAllister says an unknown man broke into the school around 4:00 AM Thursday.  Security cameras captured three images of a man wearing a black ski mask, blue coat and jeans.

McAllister says the man took some small amounts of cash from unlocked drawers but did not steal any school property.  The man used a crow bar to break school windows and gain entry.

McAllister says all students and staff are safe.  The school has been in contact with law enforcement.

“Safety and security is our top priority,” McAllister said.

McAllister says an official told him a man with a similar description recently broke into a western Iowa school.

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call the school district or 911.
