WAYNE – Several area counties have issued a winter weather advisory while most of eastern Nebraska will also see a winter storm watch this weekend.
According to a release from the National Weather Service-Omaha Center, the message for Friday during the day and into the evening could see around 0.15 inches of ice and up to an inch of snow.
Saturday into Saturday night will see a winter storm watch being issued. There will be significant snow, ice and wind with blizzard conditions possible.
Strong winds could gust between 35 and 50 mph with snowfall accumulations of 2-8 inches possible.
Travel could be hazardous in northeast Nebraska Friday and all of eastern Nebraska as well as southwest Iowa Saturday afternoon and evening.
As of Friday morning, the forecaster confidence charts read high in winds gusting up to 50 mph, moderate to high in timing from midnight Saturday to midnight Sunday (peaking at 6 p.m. Saturday) and low to medium in location of heaviest now amounts and type of precipitation.
