Weekend COVID Numbers, Wayne State College Sees Another Decline In Active Positive Cases

WAYNE – As a northeast Nebraska Public Health Department issued another round of updates from the weekend, the Wayne State College campus had their active positive COVID-19 cases cut in half.

According to a release from the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department, the weekend saw a rise of 30 cases in the health district brining the overall total to 1,110.

Monday’s numbers also included new positives since last report/total positives/total number recovered for each county. Cedar (12/198/105); Dixon (5/178/121); Thurston (7/379/308) and Wayne (6/355/196). Of the 1,110 overall total positives, 730 have recovered. Deaths for Health District residents will be reported on a weekly graph as a thorough investigation is required before Public Health can confirm and report COVID-19 related deaths.

Also, as of Monday, October 26, there were only six active positive cases at Wayne State College. These numbers provide a snapshot of the total number of positive cases for employees and students, the number of people who have returned to campus and the number of active positive cases.

College officials are continuing to ask everyone to follow all guidelines and requirements regarding the four pillars of hygiene, masks, social distancing and self-screening. The numbers reported include overall cases since August, 14.

The total of those who returned to campus rose by 16 to 165 of the 171 overall positive cases.
