WAYNE – Over the next three weeks elementary students in Wayne will be invited to participate in the annual WEB Fun Run, virtually.
According to a release from the Wayne Elementary Boosters (WEB), they’ll be switching things up this year due to limitations on gatherings and staffing with a virtual event.
Students are encouraged to participate outside of school time with friends or family members between now and Friday, October 9. WEB would like to thank this year’s sponsors of Wayne Area Economic Development as well as Ace Hardware & Home.
WEB will challenge students to complete laps at the Kern Track equal to their grade. So, kindergarten and first graders will be one lap and then up to six laps for sixth graders.
Funds collected will go to WEB to support Wayne Elementary School in a variety of ways. WEB hosts fun events like their dances, they bring in special guest speakers like Dean Jacobs, buy classroom supplies and books as the group also shows recognition for students and staff. This year WEB purchased reusable face masks for all students and staff.
The group understands that all families have been impacted during the pandemic, but even the smallest amount makes a difference. All students who participate will be entered into a drawing for a Wayne Family Fun prize with gift cards to local businesses worth $100.
This year’s top three fundraisers will receive a 12-month family membership to the Wayne Community Activity Center, a new bike donated by Ace Hardware & Home or a Wayne Elementary Lil’ Blue Fleece Blanket.
