WAYNE – This year’s fall Plains Writers Series is approaching and all are invited to hear from a Nebraska native.
According to a release from Wayne State College, the event will take place on Thursday, September 12 in the lounge on the second floor of the Humanities building at WSC. Mark Sanders will begin reading at 3:30 p.m.
The Plains Writers Series is hosted by WSC, the Language and Literature Department, the School of Arts and Humanities as well as WSC Press.
This Plains Writers Series will feature Sanders, author of “In A Good Time”, a forthcoming book of poems published by WSC Press.
Sanders was born in Creighton and raised on the eastern rim of the Sandhills in Ord, Nebraska. In 2007, he was awarded the Mildred Bennett Award for fostering Nebraska’s literary heritage. He also has taught at schools and colleges in Nebraska, Missouri, Oklahoma, Idaho and Texas where he is currently the Associate Dean of the College of Liberal and Applied Arts at Stephen F. Austin State University at Nacogdoches, Texas. Mark and his wife, Kimberly operate a small farm in Texas.
The Plains Writers Series is hosted several times a year to bring attention to the prose and poetry of Great Plains writers through reading and interacting with area audiences.
