WAYNE – After hosting a faculty tuba recital earlier this month for the public from the comfort of their own home, three more faculty members will provide music in the coming days.
According to a release from Wayne State College, make plans to escape into the beauty and wonder of lost love and enduring love with a livestream performance by Trio Mezzklarno.
Trio Mezzklarno is the faculty chamber ensemble in residence at WSC as members include Dr. Sarah Farr, mezzo-soprano, Dr. Karl Kolbeck, clarinet and Dr. Angela Miller-Niles, piano.
The event will be available to the public by livestream on the wsc.edu/music page starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24.
Repertoire embraces works by living Midwestern composers. “What lips my lips have kissed, and where, and why” and “A Red, Red Rose,” were written specifically for the trio. The ensemble will premiere both selections for this concert.
Committed to performing original works and adaptations, the ensemble represents a unique combination of timbres. Trio Mezzklarno initiated multiple commissions in an effort to expand repertoire for voice, clarinet and piano. The ensemble was slated to perform at Clarinetfest 2020, sponsored by the International Clarinet Association, but was canceled due to national concerns regarding COVID-19.
The summer music camp is also scheduled for July 20-23 with registration due by June 29. The camp is open to students who will be entering grades 6-12 in the 2020-21 school year as well as May 2020 high school graduates.
Attendees will get a variety of experiences while learning from professional musicians who are experts in their fields. In addition to taking unique music courses, the camp will include social activities. Campers will make friends with others who share your love for music and there’ll be an option to live on campus during the camp. Cost for resident campers is $300 (includes meals and housing) while commuting campers would be $250 (includes meals only).
