Wayne Speech Results From Battle Creek Invite

BATTLE CREEK – With both the conference and district speech meets approaching, the Wayne High speech team was back in action over the weekend.

From Battle Creek High School, Wayne High placed fifth out of 27 schools Saturday during the Battle Creek Invitational.

WHS had three individuals finish top five in the varsity sweepstakes being Isaac Davis (fifth), Christopher Woerdemann (T-2nd) and Liam Spieker (T-2nd).

The Oral Interpretation of Drama varsity team of Christopher Woerdemann, Dylan Anderson, Isaac Davis, Walker Hochstein and Liam Spieker brought home top honors in their event. Christopher Woerdemann also placed second in Extemporaneous as Liam Spieker finished runner-up in Entertainment.

Maiah Davis also won the JV Extemporaneous category and placed third in the JV individual sweepstakes.

Other varsity results came from Isaac Davis, fourth in Extemporaneous; Claire Lindsay, eighth overall in Persuasive; Dylan Anderson, ninth overall in Entertainment; Hannah Vick, 13th overall in Poetry and Cailee Brugger, 13th overall in Serious.

Other JV individual results came from the duet acting team of Maiah Davis and Riley Haschke placing fourth as well as Easton Blecke who took fourth in Humorous.

Wayne High will close out their regular season during the Norfolk High Invite on Saturday, March 7. Wayne State College will host both the Mid State Speech meet on Wednesday, March 11 as well as the B-4 District meet on Saturday, March 14.

The NSAA State Speech Meet will be Thursday, March 26 from Nebraska-Kearney.
