Wayne Sculpture Walk Discussion, Safety Committee Information To Be Provided During Commissioner Meeting

WAYNE – A series of appointments will make up the regularly scheduled Wayne County Board of Commissioner meeting on Tuesday, May 3.

From the Wayne County Courthouse courtroom, the Wayne County Board of Equalization will open the morning at 9 a.m. Board members will look to approve motor vehicle exemption applications for Grace Lutheran Church, Haven House, Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department, Our Savior Lutheran Church and Wayne State Foundation.

Moving into the Board of Commissioners meeting, members of the Wayne Public Arts committee will join Luke Virgil, Executive Director of Wayne Area Economic Development. The group will look to discuss displaying a piece of art on the courthouse property for the 2022-23 Wayne Sculpture Walk.

Wayne County Emergency Manager, Nic Kemnitz will then seek approval on the Elkhorn Valley Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan while also providing an update.

Ben Hogans, LLC is seeking approval on a Class I Liquor License Application for the Logan Valley Golf Course in Wakefield.

Commissioner Dean Burbach will then go over information from the safety committee. They include automated extended defibrillators for the courthouse, public safety building, county attorney office and three county shops along with storm shelters at the Carroll and Winside shops.

Road and bridge updates will then be addressed by Mark Casey, Highway Superintendent.

Other agenda items include reconsidering action taken during the April 19 board meeting on truck bids; discuss replacement of courthouse windows along with county office updates and reports.
