Wayne Public Library Weekly Events

WAYNE – As the Wayne Public Library moves into the month of December, a busy schedule of activities approaches.

According to a release, ‘Adult Take and Makes’ are now available.  Grab one of the ‘Winter Windows’ kits and learn how to make your own dried citrus garland as supplies are first come, first serve.

Santa will be stopping by the Wayne Public Library on Tuesday, December 6 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Plan on visiting the children’s room to make your Christmas wishes along with participating in crafts, puzzles, coloring and take-home treats to enjoy.

Tuesday, December 13 will mark the final Adult Coloring event of 2022. Stop in for a relaxing night and good company at 6 p.m. Colors, coloring sheets and snacks will be provided as Adult Coloring Night is sponsored by Pac N Save.

A Wayne Public Library holiday movie will be planned for Thursday, December 22 at 2:15 p.m. where a light snack will be provided. Stop in or call the library the week of the showing for more information on the film chosen.

Also, the library will offer ‘Holiday Take and Make’ activities on December 22. Activities include ice suncatcher, snowflake suncatcher, design your own paper gingerbread house, Oobleck activity, paper place gnome and more. Supplies are limited as this is a first come, first serve event. Some supplies will be included while other supplies will need to be provided by patrons.

An escape room for youth in sixth to 12th grade is being scheduled for Thursday, December 29 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with hour time slots available for each. Participants must pre-register your team of 4 – 6 people for this winter escape room. Stop by the library or call to sign-up with limited spots available.

The 2022 Adult Year Long along with the Youth Winter reading challenges will end in January. Make sure to log all of your reading for either challenge by January 2. Prizes will be announced and winners will be contacted on January 4.

Then, the 2023 Adult Year Long genre challenge will begin on January 3. Library officials state you can expand and diversify your reading horizons while earning tickets toward a reading grand prize at the end of the year. These reading challenges will be based on book genres each month and will only be available via paper booklet. Sign up at the circulation desk for more information.

Each Thursday will be set aside for the Needle Night group at 6:30 p.m. in the library. Enjoy conversation and good company while working on your personal needlework projects. All kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handicrafts are welcome.

The Wayne Public Library will be closed Saturday, December 24 – Monday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday as well as being closed on Saturday, December 31 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Library hours include Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday’s.
