WAYNE – Make plans to visit the Wayne Public Library throughout the month of October as they have several events scheduled for all ages.
The Wayne Public Library, located at 410 Pearl Street, will kickoff the second week of October with an Adult Coloring night sponsored by Pac N Save at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8. All crayons, markers and pens plus a light snack will be available for free. The night is open to men and women 18 years and older.
The Library Board will also meet that night at 6 p.m.
Toddler Time will continue each Wednesday (excluding last Wednesday) at 10 a.m. and Friday at 11 a.m. where little ones enjoy stories, music and busy bags to promote early literacy, writing and math skills.
Needle Night is back each Thursday (excluding last Thursday) from 6 – 8 p.m.
An escape room will also take place on Thursday, October 17 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and Friday, October 18 (1 – 6 p.m.) where a team of 6-8 players will attempt to solve spooky puzzles and escape. Teams must register at the circulation desk or by phone at 402-375-3135 as each session is an hour in length while being appropriate for middle schoolers through adult-age.
The next adult trivia night will feature 2000’s on Friday, October 25 at 7 p.m. Call the library or stop in to register your team of 4-5 as costumes are encouraged.
Other events scheduled this month include after school coloring on Friday, October 11 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.; smartphone 101 Class (register by calling the library) on Monday, October 21 from 5 – 8 p.m. and Craft Night on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m. Participants will be decorating light-up Halloween pumpkins made with tin cans or glass jars. All decorating supplies are provided as the library asks those interested to call and register.
The pumpkin contest will begin at the library on Wednesday, October 23 and last through Sunday, October 27 where the winners will be selected on Tuesday, October 29 between noon and 1 p.m. Age ranges for pumpkin judging and ribbon awards include birth to 4 years; 5-8; 9-12; 13-18 as well as 19 and older.
Also, trick-or-treaters are welcome to visit the Wayne Public Library on Thursday, October 31.
This month’s Adult Book Club is reading “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah and will discuss the book on Tuesday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Senior Center.
