WAYNE – As the pumpkin painting contest ends today, pumpkins are also due at the library for judging at the Wayne Public Library.
According to the monthly calendar at the library, the pumpkin painting contest began last Wednesday and will conclude on Monday, October 25. Pumpkin painting contest winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 27.
Other late October events taking place at the library will be the ‘Book Club’ meeting from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26. From the Library Conference room, the group will be discussing ‘The Moonshiner’s Daughter’ by Donna Everhart. Set in North Carolina in 1960 and brimming with authenticity and grit, ‘The Moonshiner’s Daughter’ evokes the singular life of sixteen-year-old Jessie Sasser, a young woman determined to escape her family’s past.
Toddler Time will continue on Wednesday and Thursday, October 27 – 28 at 10 a.m. from the library. Plan on joining miss Kim for stories, music, dancing, busy bags and more. Meet other parents and kids in the area and learn about the various services and reading programs the library offers.
The Needle Night group will meet on Thursday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m. from the library. This will be time for conversation and good company while working on your personal needlework projects. All kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handicrafts are welcome.
Another special event will be ‘Inktober’ at the Library this Friday from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Participants will draw together for the 2021 ‘Inktober’ challenge. Artists will be able to share your work, connect with fellow artists and learn about local ‘Inktober’ opportunities such as the Norfolk Art Center’s ‘Inktober’ prizes and events. Then close out the month by trick-or-treating at the Wayne Public Library on Sunday, October 31 between 4 – 6 p.m. Library staff will be curbside on Halloween. The event will be moved inside the library if there is inclement weather. Stop by and compete in the sidewalk challenge, grab a treat and take pictures with the spooky decorations.
