Wayne Public Library Late April Event Schedule

WAYNE – Over the next two weeks, make plans to visit the Wayne Public Library for several activities.

Located at 410 Pearl Street, the Wayne Public Library will be offering take-and-make recycled planters with Earth Day approaching on April 22.

Beginning Monday, April 18 and through the remainder of the month, stop by the library and take home a kit. These will include an instruction book, a surprise item to make a recycled terrarium/planter out of, dirt, accessories and a packet of herbs. There are 20 kits available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Wayne Public Library is also pleased to have Lin Brummels for a reading and book talk event on Monday, April from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Brummels is a writer, counselor and organic gardener. Her life focuses on poetry, prose, prairies and pollinators. With help of her family, Brummels provides a haven for horses. Find more of Lin’s work by visiting https://linktr.ee/Lin_Brummels.

Toddler Time continues all month long on each Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. where attendees will have fun with Miss Kim in the library. Take part in stories, music, dancing, busy bags and more while meeting other parents and kids in the area. Participants will also learn about the various services and reading programs the Wayne Public Library offers.

Needle Night will continue to meet at 6:30 p.m. each Thursday. Enjoy conversation and good company while working on your personal needlework projects. All kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handicrafts are welcome.

Earth Day is Friday, April 22 as the Wayne Public Library will also be hosting an after school coloring event from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Relax and get creative after a busy school week. Adults will be on hand for conversation as coloring pages, art utensils of all kinds and a light snack will be provided.

The traditional book club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 from the library conference room. This month’s discussion book will be 142 Ostriches by April Davila. An unusual ranching tale set in the Mojave Desert, where the herd is a flock of eight-foot-tall birds and their wrangler a young woman raised by her gruff grandmother who dreams of another kind of life. A twisty, warmhearted story of family, community, and fate, a thoroughgoing delight.

Friday, April 29 will also mark 70’s Night Trivia from Johnnie Byrd Brewing Company at 7 p.m. Costumes and themed costume groups are highly encouraged. Stop by or call the library to register your team of four as space is limited. Awards will be given to trivia winners and best costumes.
