Wayne Public Library June 21 – 24 Events

WAYNE – Another busy week of events will be hosted by the Wayne Public Library beginning Tuesday.

This week’s Summer Reading Program event will highlight ‘Diving for Pearls’. Those in grades fifth to eighth are invited to the library today at 2 p.m. ‘Diving for Pearls’ continues on Wednesday for ages birth to four years old at 10 a.m.; grades kindergarten through second at 11 a.m. and grades third and fourth at 2 p.m. all at the Wayne Public Library. Also, high school students in grades 9-12 are welcome to join at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 for the ‘Diving for Pearls’ event.

The traditional book club will meet on Tuesday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the library conference room to discuss ‘The Friendship List’ by Susan Mallery and each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. will allow for the Needle Night group to meet.

Also, rules for the Youth Summer Reading Program reading minutes include each book must be checked out from the Wayne Public Library (either a physical book or an e-book using Libby); each of the three levels requires five hours of reading/listening (return completed form to library for prizes and coupons once level is finished) and after completing all three levels, Youth SRP participants may continue reading for additional entries for more prizes.

The Youth SRP final day to turn in reading minutes will be this Saturday, June 25. The Summer Reading Program Party will then be on Wednesday, June 29 at 2 p.m. from the library where youth will enjoy a movie and popcorn.

Sign-up also continues for those six and older to participate in the Nebraska Virtual Reality Game Truck. The Thursday, June 30 VR Truck will offer an African Safari at 10 a.m. and Walk on the Moon at 11:30 a.m. Guests can only sign-up for one program as space is limited to 25 each. Library hours include Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
