Wayne Public Library July 5 – 8 Events

WAYNE – Youth and adult programming will continue at the Wayne Public Library this week and throughout the month of July.

According to a release, the ‘New Adult Book Club’ will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the library conference room. This month’s book discussion will be ‘Red, White and Royal Blue’ by Casey McQuiston.

Youth events will resume with Amy Topp representing the 4H Extension Office at the library. Those in Kindergarten through second grade are invited to participate at 11 a.m. as well as third and fourth graders at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6 for fun and educational activities.

A teen 3D printing class will be offered at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 in the computer lab for those 13 and up. Those interested must sign up beforehand and have a parental consent form signed to use the 3D printer. Dates include this Thursday as well as July 14 and July 28 also at 2 p.m. The 3D prints will be shown off in the hallway display case during the month of August.

With the 42nd annual Wayne Chicken Show this Friday, July 8 – Sunday, July 10, the Wayne Public Library will be hosting Henoween Storytime and an activity from the library starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Join library staff for chicken stories, eggtastic games and a good time.

The Youth Summer Reading Challenge will then begin on Monday, July 11. Make sure to stop by the Wayne Public Library (410 Pearl Street) to pick up your book challenge sheet. Youth who read specific books will earn tickets towards grand prize bundles as the challenge will run until August 8.

Other monthly events will include ‘Adult Coloring’ on Tuesday, July 12 at 6 p.m. in the back of the library, the ‘Traditional Book Club’ will meet on Tuesday, July 26 at 6:30 in the library conference room discussing ‘Anatomy of a Scandal’ by Sarah Vaughan and the Needle Night Group will be offered each Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.

Close out the month of July with an 80s Trivia Night at Johnnie Byrd’s on Friday, July 29 at 7 p.m. Costumes and themed costume groups are highly encouraged. Stop by or call the library at 402-375-3135 to register your team of four. Space is limited, so first-come, first-serve. Awards will also be given to trivia winners and best costumes.

Library hours include Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
