WAYNE – As the Wayne Public Library will be closed this weekend on Friday, December 31 and Saturday, January 1 in observance of the New Year holiday, the group has a jam-packed month planned out.
According to a release from the Wayne Public Library, the youth winter reading challenge along with the adult 2021 yearlong reading challenge will end on Monday, January 3. Make sure to log all of your reading for either challenge as prize winners will be announced and contacted on January 4.
Moving into the 2022 Adult Year Long American Road Trip, the challenge will then begin on January 3. Earn prize tickets by reading books either set in, about, or by an author from each of our 50 states. You can log reading on the Beanstack app or through the Wayne Public Library paper booklet. Toddler Time with Miss Kim will return each Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. from the library. The event will be highlighted with stories, music, dancing, busy bags and more. Guests will be able to meet other parents and kids in the area while learning about the various services and reading programs that the library offers.
Each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. will also be a time for the needle night group to work on your creative projects. Those who attend will enjoy conversation and good company as all kinds of decorative sewing and textile arts handicrafts are welcome.
The adult coloring night will start their 2022 schedule on Tuesday, January 11 at 6 p.m. Colors, coloring sheets and snacks will be provided as this event is sponsored by Pac N Save.
A pair of after school coloring events will take place on Friday, January 14 and Friday, January 28 at 3:30 p.m. Participants can relax and get creative after a busy school week. There’ll be adults on hand for conversation as coloring pages, art utensils of all kinds and a light snack will be provided.
Later in the month of January, there’ll be a decades-themed trivia night featuring the 50s and 60s. The event will be held at Johnnie Byrd Brewing Company in Wayne on Friday, December 21 at 7 p.m. Costumes and themed consume groups are highly encouraged. To register your team, stop in or call the library as space is limited. First come, first serve. Awards will be issued to the trivia winners and best costumes.
The book club will return for discussion on Tuesday, January 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the library conference room. The January book is ‘Thursday Murder Club’ by Richard Osman.
The Wayne Public Library will also be closed on Monday, January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Wayne Public Library regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday’s from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday’s from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and between 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday’s.
