Wayne Public Library Events, September Schedule  

WAYNE – Close out the month of August with the Traditional Book Club at the Wayne Public Library before moving into a jam packed September schedule.

According to a release, the Traditional Book Club will be returning for discussion of ‘Karolina’s Twins’ by Ronald H. Balson on Tuesday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. from the library conference room.

Later this week, take and make nature scavenger hunt supplies will be available on Thursday, September 1.

The Needle night group will also meet each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. from the Wayne Public Library.

The Wayne Public Library will be closed on Monday, September 5 in observance of Labor Day. Sunday hours will resume on Sunday, September 11 from 2 – 5 p.m.

September’s Adult Book Club will meet on Tuesday, September 6 at 7 p.m. in the Library Conference Room. The group will be discussing ‘Opium and Absynthe’ by Lydia Kang.

Toddler Time returns with Miss Kim on Wednesdays or Thursdays at 10 a.m. in the library for stories, music, dancing, busy bags and more. Participants will be able to meet other parents and kids in the area while learning about the various services and reading programs the library offers.

The Friends of the Library Book Sale is scheduled for Thursday, September 8 (4-8 p.m.); Friday, September 9 (2 – 6 p.m.) and Saturday, September 10 (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) at the Wayne Municipal Auditorium.

A trio of Wednesdays in September will offer after-school story and craft times at 2:15 p.m. September 14 and 28 will be After School Story Time with Miss Kim and September 21 will be After School Recycled Book Craft with Sharon.

The Wayne Public Library and Senior Center will be celebrating 25 years of existence in their current location. Make plans to celebrate the Robert B. & Mary Y. Benthack Library and Senior Center on Friday, September 16 from 2 – 3 p.m. with coffee and treats. (this event was originally scheduled for September 23).

After School coloring is being scheduled for Friday, September 9 and Friday, September 23 at 3:30 p.m. both days while the Adult Coloring event will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m.

Other September Wayne Public Library events include celebrating National Video Game Day on Monday, September 12 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.; Thrifts & Gifts sale on Friday, September 16 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Senior Center/Library Hallway and mark Tuesday, September 20 at 6 p.m. for a ‘Craft Night’.

The Traditional Book Club will meet on Tuesday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. as the September discussion book will be ‘The Authenticity Project’ by Clare Pooley.

Library hours include Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Starting Sunday, September 11, the Wayne Public Library will also be open from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday’s (not until 9/11).
