ALBION – For the second straight week, the Wayne High speech team competed in a weekend invitational.
From Boone Central Schools in Albion, WHS joined 15 other speech programs Saturday.
In the team sweepstakes, Wayne High placed runner-up while the host, Boone Central won the invite with 66 points.
The Blue Devils had two champions on the day from Christopher Woerdemann in Extemporaneous and Liam Spieker in Entertainment.
Other results came from the Duet of Hannah Vick and Brooklyn Bierbower, third; Maiah Davis, third in Persuasive; Kaden Hopkins, third in Humorous; Isaac Davis, third in Informative; the Duet Acting team of Christopher Woerdemann and Dylan Anderson, fifth; Hannah Vick, sixth in Poetry and Ruben Vega, sixth in Extemporaneous.
The Wayne High speech team will next compete in the Hartington Cedar Catholic Speech Invite on Saturday, January 30.
