Wayne High Speech Results From Wisner-Pilger Invite, Conference Meet Is Wednesday

WISNER – As the Mid State Conference Speech meet approaches this week, the Wayne High speech team recently competed in another weekend invite.

From Wisner-Pilger Public Schools, WHS took part in the Wisner-Pilger Invite on Saturday, February 20.

As a team, Wayne High placed third in a tight 1-2-3 finish behind runner-up Chambers and speech champion Humphrey.

Two individuals along with the Oral Interpretation of Drama team garnered first place marks. Christopher Woerdemann in extemporaneous; Liam Spieker in entertainment, and the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Orion Spieker, Kaden Hopkins, Brooklyn Bierbower, Christopher Rutenbeck and Easton Blecke all finished first.

Also placing for the Blue Devil Speakers were the Duet of Dylan Anderson and Christopher Woerdemann, overall runner-up; Kaden Hopkins, fourth in Humorous Prose; Isaac Davis, fourth in Extemporaneous; Maiah Davis, sixth in Extemporaneous; the Duet Acting team of Brooklyn Bierbower and Hannah Vick, sixth and Hannah Vick, seventh in Poetry.

Other results came from the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Alondra Vega, Maddie Franta, Ashton Brandow, Ethan Wibben and Aidan Cliff, tenth; Ethan Tyson, tenth in Entertainment; and Dylan Anderson, tenth in Humorous Prose; Maddie Franta, twelfth overall in Serious Prose; Isaac Davis, twelfth overall in Informative; Maiah Davis, thirteenth overall in Persuasive; Easton Blecke, fourteenth overall in Serious Prose and Christopher Rutenbeck, twentieth overall in Poetry.

The Mid State Conference Speech meet will be held in West Point on Wednesday, February 24 while the Blue Devils will close out their regular speech season in the Battle Creek Invite on Saturday, February 27. Wayne High will patriciate in the B-3 District Speech meet on Saturday, March 6 at 9 a.m. from Wayne State College. The 2021 NSAA State Speech Championships will be held at Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday, March 18 (Class B/Class C1); Friday, March 19 (D1/D2/C2) and Saturday, March 20 (Class A virtual)
