Wayne High Speech Results From Pierce Invite

PIERCE – Following a pair of speech camps in December and January, the Wayne High speech season began over the weekend.

From Pierce Public Schools, Wayne High competed in the Pierce Speech Invite on Saturday, Janaury 16.

In the team sweepstakes, Wayne finished third out of 13 schools.

Christopher Woerdemann won the Extemporaneous category while runner-up finishes went to Isaac Davis in Extemporaneous and Liam Spieker in Entertainment.

Kaden Hopkins came in third during Humorous Prose; the JV Duet of Jesus Arroyo and Ethan Wibben finished third; the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Kaden Hopkins, Christopher Rutenbeck, Brooklyn Bierbower, Easton Blecke and Orion Spieker, fourth; the Varsity Duet of Christopher Woerdemann and Dylan Anderson placed sixth; Ruben Vega took sixth in Extemporaneous and Hannah Vick finished fifth in Poetry.

Upcoming speech invites include the Boone Central Invite on Saturday, January 23; Hartington Cedar Catholic Invite on Saturday, January 30; the Wayne High/WSC Classic on Saturday, February 6; Norfolk High Invite on Friday, February 12; Wisner-Pilger Invite on Saturday, February 20; Mid State Conference Meet held in West Point on Wednesday, February 24 and Battle Creek Invite on Saturday, February 27.

The B-3 District Speech Meet will be held at Wayne State College on Saturday, March 6 with the NSAA State Speech Championships at Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday, March 18.
