Wayne High senior, young comic entertains hometown crowd

WAYNE, Neb. — A northeast Nebraska high schooler — and up-and-coming comic — got a chance to shine Tuesday night in his hometown.

17-year-old Kaden Hopkins, a senior at Wayne High, featured for professional comedian Tim Boyd at the Majestic Theatre. Boyd, who is also Hopkins’ relative, is a pastor and comic based in South Dakota. Also on the bill was Luke Johnson of Sioux Falls.
Hopkins, who has participated in everything from choir to to speech to cross country for Wayne High, was performing standup for just his second time.
“Scary, really scary,” Hopkins described the experience. “Definitely overwhelming.”
Hopkins and Boyd shared good-natured barbs, often related to their shared family. Boyd was also the headliner the last time Hopkins performed. Hopkins hopes it’s not anywhere close to the last time he performs.
“It’s one of those things that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed so far, and I’m excited to see what comes of it,” Hopkins said.
