Wayne High Musical To Feature Addams Family School Edition

WAYNE – A weekend musical should be on your calendar as Wayne Community Schools presents ‘The Addams Family School Edition’.

The musical is presented by special arrangement with Theatrical Rights World Wide and be performed at the Wayne Jr/Sr High School lecture hall.

Tracy Anderson teaches vocal music 7-12 and is the director of the musical. Anderson said it was a great transition and has been on their short-list for many years.

“We felt like we had the right people to plug into the roles that need speaking lines,” said Anderson. “Then we also have just this really great group of extra students that are what they call the ‘Addams Ancestors’ and they fill in, in many different ways.”

Kaden Hopkins will play the part of the husband, Gomez as Brooklyn Bierbower will play the wife being Morticia and joined the ‘View from Wayne America’.

“It’s a very entertaining show, it’s just a wild ride all the way through. If you want to see a show, this is the show you got to see,” Hopkins added.

Bierbower talking about her favorite song to sing, “Oh that’s a tough one, I think my favorite one to sing is probably “Death is Just Around The Corner”.

Anderson mentioned the musical is more of a modern show and is challenging.

“At times it’s very simple and then other times we’ve really had to make it work for what are the kids’ abilities and we make adjustments when we need to, to see if a note will pop out or see if we need to talk it through; that’s a great learning tool for them too.

Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 as well as 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3.

Tickets are available from cast members or by calling the school at 402-375-3150. Prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

“I just want to thank all of the kids, I want to thank all the parents and all of the people that have been helping behind the scenes,” said Anderson. “We put a full weekend in this weekend to finish props and what not and just couldn’t do it without all those people.”
