Wayne High 2020 Graduates To Be Honored Saturday, Wakefield Seniors To Participate In Presentation Of Diploma Ceremony Sunday

WAYNE/WAKEFIELD – A pair of northeast Nebraska high school principals are preparing to honor their 2020 graduates this weekend.

According to release from both Wayne Community Schools and the Wakefield Community School District, Wayne High seniors will be recognized on Saturday, August 1 while graduates from Wakefield will receive their diplomas on Sunday, August 2.

The Wayne High graduation will take place at the Wayne State College Willow Bowl from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday. Attendance will not be limited as all visitors may sit on the cement seating within the Willow Bowl, stand or bring lawn chairs to sit on behind the cement seating.

Wayne Community School officials do encourage guests to wear masks to the ceremony and adhere to social distancing guidelines while in attendance. Groups of attendees sitting together should not exceed eight and families or groups should be spaced sit six feet apart from each other. Graduation will also be streamed through the Wayne Community School Facebook page for those who cannot attend.

If inclement weather is forecasted during graduation, the ceremony will be moved into the Wayne High School gym where attendance will be limited. Each graduate has provided a list of eight guests that are able to attend the graduation ceremony if moved inside.

 

For those participating in the Wakefield Community School District presentation of diploma ceremony. The ceremony will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the school as graduates must arrive by 1 p.m. for practice.

For seniors who won’t be able to attend, their diploma will be mailed out.

The maximum number in a family to attend will be seven as their graduate will six next to them being the eighth member in the group spaced six-feet apart from the next family.

Wakefield Community School District officials ask that attendees stay seated throughout the ceremony until you are dismissed by the attendant. Groups should then return to their vehicles and leave the school premises after the ceremony as any gathering of groups on school premises before or after the ceremony are prohibited.

All participants are being asked to wear a face covering. Masks will be available at the door if someone needs one. Drinking fountains and restrooms will also not be open for use unless there is an emergency.
