Wayne Green Team Earth Day Events

WAYNE – A trio of events are being planned for during this year’s Wayne Green Team Earth Day event.

According to a release from Sandy Brown, Earth Day is Friday, April 22 as the Wayne Green Team encourages you to live every day as if it’s Earth Day.

During the month of April, join the Wayne Green Team in celebrating our community’s efforts at reducing waste and living a sustainable life.

This year’s Zero Waste Chamber Coffee will be on Earth Day of Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. from the Wayne Public Library. Participants are asked to bring your own mug and join the Wayne Green Team for coffee and homemade pastries. Attendees will learn the latest on how to reduce, reuse and recycle in Wayne with hands-on demos.

The free Earth Day screening of ‘My Octopus Teacher’ will be shown at the Majestic Theatre on Sunday, April 24 at 7 p.m. This will be an uplifting documentary which follows the story of an unusual friendship between a filmmaker and an octopus living in a South African kelp forest. ‘My Octopus Teacher’ helps us discover the fragility of life and humanity’s connection to nature. This film won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2021.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for more recycling demos followed by the 85-minute film at 7 p.m. This free event is hosted by the City of Wayne Green Team, the WSC Green Team and the A. Jewell Schock Museum of Natural History. Also, bring your own popcorn container and cup to help make this a zero waste event.
