WAYNE – Earlier this week members with Future Farmers of America took part in a series of competitions.
The FFA Leadership Development Events (LDEs) were held at Wisner-Pilger high school Monday, an event that was previously postponed from November 26, 2019 at Midland University in Fremont.
Schools being represented were the entire District Three of FFA being Arlington, Blair, Logan View, Lyons-Decatur, Mead, North Bend, Oakland-Craig, Omaha Bryan, Pender, Scribner-Snyder, Tekamah-Herman, Wayne, West Point-Beemer and Wisner-Pilger.
There were 14 events that students competed in and ribbons awarded were purple, blue and red.
Monday’s district competition was also a state qualifying event where members needed to be either first or second to advance.
The day allowed students to compete in public speaking, parliamentary procedure and demonstrations.
The next Wayne FFA meeting will be held in the Hahn Lecture Hall on Monday, January 20 at 8 p.m. before members will participate in District Livestock Judging at Northeast Community College on Thursday, January 30.
National FFA Week is also Saturday, February 22 – Saturday, February 29.
The District Career Development Events (Ag Ed competitions) will then be held in Norfolk on Wednesday, February 4 with the Nebraska FFA State Convention Wednesday, April 1 – Friday, Aril 3 in Lincoln. The Wayne FFA banquet is scheduled Friday, April 17 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. from the City Auditorium.
