WAYNE – With one performance complete Thursday night, two more shows are scheduled over the next two evenings of a Wayne Community Theatre Performance.
‘The Eight: Reindeer Monologues’, by Jeff Goode will take to the stage at the Majestic Theatre located at 310 Main Street in Wayne Friday and Saturday night.
Doors at the Majestic open at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. for the roughly one hour and 20-minute play. The first performance was Thursday evening, but other shows will be held Friday and Saturday night.
Rusty Ruth is an assistant professor at Wayne State College in the Department of Communication Arts. Ruth said the play was written 25 years ago.
“Essentially what you have is Santa is being accused of sort of some harassment from some of his reindeer,” said Ruth. “Some of them are arguably defending him and then others are giving their side of the story. So, it’s got a lot of dark adult humor.”
Adult language and situations may not be suitable for fawns under 18 years old.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $12.
The Wayne State College Theatre Department had a wonderful production with ‘All in the Timing’ this past fall and look forward to their spring performance of ‘Pirates of Penzance’.
Ruth also serves as the Director of Theatre at WSC. He said the college students will be writing their own original children theatre pieces before touring it to elementary schools in northeast Nebraska the last half of the spring semester.
“It’s going to be a wonderful experience,” Ruth mentioned. “Not only for our students who will get to learn about how to create your own touring show, but for the students in the area who might not always be able to travel and to come see our shows, that we’ll have the shows come right to them.”
