WAYNE – The First Presbyterian Church continues to be the host site for the Wayne Coat Closet and will have an addition to their hours with the colder winter days approaching.
This Saturday, November 3 and the first Saturday in December on the 1st the Wayne Coat Closet will be open from 10 – 11 a.m.
Teresa Bartlett is the Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Wayne. The church wanted to make resources available for those who might not be able to buy coats for their family.
“We also have, in addition to coats, hats, gloves, scarves and various times we have some boots,” said Pastor Teresa. “So, we just try and help folks especially with kids, you know, how fast they grow and grow out of things. Sometimes it can be hard for a family to keep up.”
Pastor Teresa has been in Wayne since January of 2017.
The First Presbyterian Church is located at 216 West Third Street. For those wishing to drop off or pick up, make sure to use the northwest entrance off Lincoln Street.
“Folks will be available to direct them down to the coat closet,” Pastor Teresa added. “Where they can look through what’s available, try on coats if needed. We like to keep track statistically of how many coats are going out, other than that we don’t need to know much information about individuals.”
Year-To-Date total from January 2018 to now, the Wayne Coat Closet has issued 135 coats with the winter season coming up. Adult and children coats that are in good condition, clean and ready to hang up and send home are needed.
Normal office hours are Tuesday – Friday from 9 a.m. until Noon as the church will also make accommodations if need be.
“We definitely appreciate that,” Pastor Teresa mentioned. “We couldn’t afford to do this if we had to purchase everything. So, we certainly appreciate the support of the community and all the folks who help in any way to keep the Coat Closet filled, so folks can stay warm.”
