Wayne Chicken Show Committee, Huskerland Communications To Co-Host Chamber Coffee

WAYNE – With sunny skies in the forecast this year’s pre-Chicken Show Friday morning Chamber Coffee is right around the corner.

Co-hosted by the Wayne Chicken Show Committee and Huskerland Communications (U.S. Cellular), make plans to visit the 200-block alley on the west side of main street on Friday, July 12 at 10 a.m.

The 39th annual Chicken Show will begin with the set-up of their flea market and sidewalk sale beginning at 10 a.m. Friday. The Outdoor Clucktique Market and sidewalk sale will be along the downtown sidewalks until 3 p.m.

Katie Gerdes has been the store manager with U.S. Cellular going on a year and a half. She talked about the name of Huskerland Communications.

“It’s just our store owner that’s his chain,” said Gerdes. “So, he’s got now four different stores (in) Columbus, O’Neill, Valentine and then ours makes four.”

Previously Gerdes worked in a lab in Norfolk.

Huskerland Communications is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday’s 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

With Wayne State students returning in about a month, Huskerland Communications will be finalizing their promotions.

“So far promos we don’t know what’s going to happen yet,” Gerdes added. “But, I’m sure we’ll have something especially for pre-paid for a lot of kids that our out-of-state.”

Huskerland Communications will also provide breakfast pizza Friday.

The Wayne Police Department would like to remind those driving on Main Street that from 1st to 4th street and a half block on each side of these streets will be closed from 2:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. for Henoween Friday.
