Wakefield Community Schools Holds October Meeting, Approves Superintendent Evaluation

WAKEFIELD – Wakefield’s Board of Education held a regularly scheduled meeting Monday night.

Administrators gave the board an update on their activities in the last month. Elementary principal Jerad Wulf told the board that parent teachers conferences were well attended. Secondary principal Angela Zach and superintendent Matt Farup spoke about professional development going on at all levels. Farup also said applications for free and reduced lunch were lower than expected and noted the deadline for applying is Friday, October 15.

Board member Jeff Keagle was selected as the voting delegate for Wakefield Community Schools at the upcoming Nebraska Association of School Boards convention. Several board members will be attending the convention.

Board president Bree Brown led a review of the yearly superintendent evaluation. Overall, the board and Farup were very similar in their evaluation and self-evaluation, respectively. Both the board and Farup were asked to evaluate Farup in several categories, like community relations; mission vision and goals; and budget planning and management among other items. The board will hold a retreat at a later date to identify their top three areas of improvement for the superintendent.

The next regularly scheduled Wakefield School Board meeting will be on Monday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m. at Wakefield Community School.
