WAED Annual Banquet Scheduled For January 27, Ticket Sales End Friday

WAYNE – Members with Wayne Area Economic Development will host their annual banquet at the end of January with this year’s theme being, “Flourish in Wayne”.

Hosted on Sunday, January 27, the banquet will be held at The Beaumont Concert and Event Center just north of the Wayne Country Club.

The Special Events Committee has made a few changes from year’s past with a change in location and more of a formal event. Doors will open at 4 p.m. with a social hour and time to go over silent auction items and dessert auction to follow. The dinner will begin at 5 p.m.

Types of desserts will include cakes, cupcakes, dessert bars, cheesecakes and more. Contact the office at 402-375-2240 if interested.

The night of the banquet, every table will have a chance to bid on the desserts to share with the table or take home. All proceeds will go towards new American Flags along Highway 35.

Silent auction items will fund the Annual Wayne State Band Day Scholarship awarded by the Chamber of Commerce for the past 31 years. Businesses who would like to donate items for the silent auction can drop them off at the WAED office located at 108 West 3rd Street or let them know and they can make arrangements to pick up items. All donated items will be accepted through January 24.

Following the dessert auction, community awards will be presented. Those awards include Business of the Year, Most Valuable Patron, Educator of the Year and Outstanding Citizen of the Year.

Cost for individual tickets are $30 or a table of eight for $275 which includes drink tickets. Deadline to order tickets is Friday, January 18.

The WAED Annual Banquet is open to the public and business are urged to bring along spouses, employees and other business associates for a night of food, fun and celebration.
