Virtual County Equalization, Commissioners Meetings Slated For Tuesday Morning

WAYNE – With county officials looking to practice best social distancing strategies, the regularly scheduled board meetings have moved to online by video and/or teleconference.

According to a release from the Wayne County Courthouse, the Tuesday, April 7 Board of Equalization meeting will start at 9 a.m. followed by the Board of Commissioners meeting.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and pursuant to Gov. Pete Ricketts’ executive order No. 20-03, members of the public are able to attend these meetings electronically.

The County of Wayne will be utilizing Zoom for its online meeting platform. Details on how to connect to upcoming meetings will be available by going to waynecountyne.org and select the ‘Virtual Meetings’ tab under the ‘Commissioners’ page. To view the meeting on your computer or smartphone you will need to download and install the Zoom software or app. Alternatively, you may dial one of the phone numbers for audio-only participation.

The Board of Equalization will take action on permissive exemptions from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage (Hoskins) and the Wayne Area Economic Development building.

Moving into the Board of Commissioners meeting, an action item will begin with a County Burial Application from Hasemann Funeral Home. A public hearing will then be scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to receive input on the issuance of a new Class C liquor license for the Logan Valley Golf Course in Wakefield.

Wayne County emergency manger, Nic Kemnitz will then seek approval for COVID-19 Disaster Declaration as well as a resolution required to remain eligible for FEMA funding in the future.

Highway superintendent, Mark Casey will address proposed road use/maintenance agreement from Tradewinds for the Haystack project and award the bid for round three County Bridge Match Program (CBMP) projects with Thurston County. Board members will also look to sign a resolution authorizing signatures on program agreement for CBMP round four projects in District 1 (Terry Sievers).
