HARTINGTON – For the second straight weekend, members with the Wayne High speech team took part in a weekend invitational.
From Hartington-Newcastle high school, WHS competed in the Hartington-Newcastle Invite on Saturday, February 1.
After placing third in late January during the Boone Central Invite, WHS improved to a runner-up finish Saturday in varsity competition.
Wayne High brought home four champions on the day, 10 total medals. First place results came from Ethan Tyson (JV Entertainment), Hannah Vick (Serious), Liam Spieker (Entertainment) and the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Christopher Woerdemann, Walker Hochstein, Dylan Anderson, Isaac Davis and Liam Spieker.
Other results came from Isaac Davis (second in Extemporaneous); Orion Spieker (second in Varsity Humorous); Maiah Davis, (second in JV Extemporaneous); Claire Lindsay (third in Persuasive); Christopher Woerdeman (third in Extemporaneous) and Easton Blecke (fourth in JV Humorous).
Wayne High speech competitors will next host their Second annual Wayne High/Wayne State Classic on Saturday, February 8. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday on the Wayne State College campus.
